Livia Berchtold

Swiss violinist Livia Berchtold has won numerous prices at national and international competitions, as a soloist as well as a chamber musician. With the string quartet “Loewe Quartett” she won the first "Paul Juon Kammermusik Wettbewerb" in 2023 and in 2021 they received the 1st  prize in the “Kiwanis Competition” at the “Zürcher Hochschule der Künste”. Also, with the “Berchtold Piano Trio” she was a prize winner at the “ORPHEUS Swiss Chamber Music Competition 2019”. Furthermore she was a finalist at the international “Anton Rubinstein Competition”. Her regular concert activities throughout Switzerland have already taken her to festivals such as the “Musikdorf Ernen” and the “Swiss Chamber Music Festival” in Adelboden. 
In 2021 she completed her Masters in Performance in the class of Alexander Sitkovetsky at the “Zürcher Hochschule der Künste” with distinction. Before that she studied at the “Hochschule für Musik Basel” and completed both her bachelor’s degree with Daniel Sepec and her master’s degree in pedagogy with Barbata Doll with distinction. During her master’s degree in performance, she did an exchange year at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock” with Stefan Hempel. 
She received further artistic inspiration from Zakhar Bron, Ingolf Turban, Adelina Oprean, Wendy Enderle, Thomas Grossenbacher, Lawrence Power, Winfried Rademacher, Anton Kernjak and Benjamin Engeli.
As an enthusiastic orchestral musician, Livia Berchtold regularly plays as a guest in the “Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich”, where she was an intern from 2019-2021. She was also a member of the “Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester”. Orchestra tours have taken her to famous concert halls such as the “Elbphilharmonie Hamburg”, the “Musikverein Wien”, the "Philharmonie de Paris", the “Auditorio Nacional de Música Madrid” and the” Sala Palatului Bucharest”.
Through her great commitment and visionary thinking, she has already launched various projects. Her passion for chamber music moved her to found her own concert series "Klassik im Schloss” in 2021. 
For her founding project "Basel gyygt" she won the prize for the best master's project 2016 at the Basel University of Music. For two years she taught and built this project, which today offers more than 250 children, with a migration background, the opportunity to take music lessons. 
 From 2017-2023 she was a violin teacher at the “Musikschule Arbon” and since 2021 she has been teaching at the “Kantonsschule Trogen”.
